Appalachian State forward Anna Freeman has been named the Southern Conference Women’s Basketball Player of the Week for all games through
November 19. The Thomasville, N.C., native broke the all-time scoring record at Virginia Tech’s Cassell Coliseum after scoring 36 points in the Mountaineers 71-68 loss to the Hokies on Wednesday.
Freeman also tied the record for made three-pointers with six, and was one point shy of tying Appalachian State’s all-time points-in-a-game record.
Freeman played all 40 minutes in the loss to the Hokies and was 10-18 shooting (55.5%), 6-11 three pointers (54.5%) and was 10-10 on free throw attempts. She also added two rebounds, six assists, two steals and two blocks.
The senior is averaging 27.0 points per game, 5.5 rebounds per game, 3.5 assists per game, 2.5 steals per game and 1.5 blocks per game. Other top performers in the opening week of play were College of Charleston’s Latisha Harris, Davidson’s Sophia Aleksandravicius, Elon’s Shon Redmond, Furman’s Sarah Durdaller, UNCG’s Ciara Morris, Samford’s Shelby Campbell, Chattanooga’s Meghan Downes and Wofford’s Rachel Brittenham.
