Appalachian State University has instituted a hotline to report potential policy violations or concerns. ASU has contracted a third party reporting service to handle concerns that are submitted through an anonymous website. Athletics, financial impropriety unethical academic practices, and sexual harassment are examples of areas of potential concern. The system lists over 50 potential areas of concern. If an initial follow-up shows probable cause, an internal audit would potentially follow to pursue further evidence of the complaint. Since Professor Jammie Price was placed on administrative leave as a result of student complaints, ASU faculty have been concerned about anonymous complaints and due process related to disciplinary actions. Price was reinstated following a grievance procedure hearing.
