Four Pioneers Named To All-Region Team PDF Print

The Watauga High men's soccer team had four players named to the Region 11, Class 4A regional team. Alex Parsons, Logan Raichle, Cam Linville and Jake Chasteen were WHS' all-regional selections.

Parsons led the Pioneers with 22 goals and was third on the teanm with six assists; Raichle had a team-leading 16 assists and he was second on the teanm with eight goals; Tucker Chasteen, who was an Honorable Mention choice in the Northwestern 3A/4A Conference, was third on the team with seven goals 7, and second in assists with eight.
Linnville was third in assists with six, despite playing defense, and Justin Hall tied for third on the team in goals  with seven.  
The Pioneers were ranked 8th in the state in the final North Carolina Soccer Coaches Association Poll (their highest ranking since 1999, when they finished the season ranked 7th in the state). And all four of their losses were by one goal.
WHS also played the Class 2A (Ashe),Class 3A (Hickory), and Class 4A (TC Roberson) schools with the best records (and most wins) in the state. And they defeated two of those teams, Ashe County and Hickory, handing those schools their only regular season losses.
Defensively, the Pioneers recorded 10 shutouts.
