 The Watauga Storm 5th grade boys basketball team turned in a fifth place finish in a tournament in Johnson City, TN., this past weekend, November 16-18. The tournament field featured teams from
Tennessee, North Carolina, Virginia, and West Virginia. The Watauga Storm finished with a 2-1 record on the weekend. The weekend began with a bang for the Storm as they beat the East Tennessee Storm 24-22 on a last second three pointer by Jaiden Bond. Bond also led the team in scoring with 9 points. The Storm then beat the Church Hill Wildcats 29-18 in which they were led in scoring by Jordan Gainey with 6 points, but saw eight different players score for the Storm. The Storm would lose the first game of the winner’s bracket 31-21 against the Mo-Town Speed. The Storm was led in scoring by Anderson Castle and Jackson Miller who each scored 6 points. Additional players who either scored, had a rebound, caused a turnover, who had an assist in the tournament include Jake Sears, Daylon Banks, Austin Idol, Mitchell Greene, Bryce Satterfield, Christopher Konrady, Alex Darner, and Andrew Freeman. |
