Heavy Damage in Deep Gap House Fire PDF Print

Deep Gap firefighters arrived at a home at 174 High Country Trail off North Pine Run Road mid afternoon Tuesday to find fire roaring from the roof of the rear of the double wide mobile home. Firefighters from Deep Gap were joined by Boone and Stewart Simmons fire departments were called to the scene as the firefighting effort got underway.  Fire officials said that the house belonged to a couple—the husband out of state serving in the Air Force—Jason and Angel Teague.  Angel grabbed her cat and fled out as the call was going out for the blaze, and no one was injured in the fire or firefighting effort.  A candle burning in a rear bedroom near where the fire was most intense was being looked at for one possible cause of the fire, but that official determination had not been made as the fire was being cleared as dusk fell.  Damage by fire, smoke, heat and water was considerable at the manufactured home, but some of the family’s belongings might be salvageable according to those at the scene.
