For the first time in 50 years, the Lenoir-Rhyne University Football Team has earned a berth to the postseason. This selection to the playoffs is also the first as a member of NCAA Division II for L-R.

Lenoir-Rhyne (8-2), the third seed in Super Region No. 2, will host sixth-seeded Fort Valley State (8-3) next Saturday at Moretz Stadium in the First Round of the NCAA Division II Playoffs.
This will be the first-ever meeting between the two schools. The winner of the contest will face Carson-Newman (8-2) in the second round of the playoffs on Saturday, November 24, in Jefferson City, Tenn.
Lenoir-Rhyne has won seven straight games after beating Catawba by a 44-14 score in the regular season finale yesterday at home.
With the win, the Bears claimed the 2012 South Atlantic Conference Championship outright and their fifth league title in school history. L-R also won the conference crown in 1975, 1988, 1994 and 2011.
Lenoir-Rhyne is the top-ranked rushing team in NCAA Division II at 384.7 yards per game and is averaging 43.3 points per contest during its seven-game winning streak.
L-R's last playoff game took place on December 8, 1962, a 28-13 loss to Central Oklahoma State in the NAIA National Championship Game (Camellia Bowl) in Sacramento, Calif.
Lenoir-Rhyne's last home playoff game was on December 1, 1962, a 20-7 win over Northern State (S.D.) in the NAIA Eastern Regional Playoffs.
The NCAA Division II National Championship game will take place on Saturday, December 15, 2012, at Braly Municipal Stadium in Florence, Ala.
