The Lenoir-Rhyne Men's Basketball Team (2-0) remained unbeaten on the season with a 53-50 victory over Queens (0-2) Saturday afternoon on the final day of the SAC/Conference Carolinas Tip-Off Classic at Cuddy Arena. Junior center Matt

Kunz (Kernersville, N.C.) was the lone player to score in double figures for the Bears as he finished with 18 points to go along with 14 rebounds for a double-double in the victory.
Queens lost despite a game-high 19 points from Brent Evans (Beaufort, S.C.) and 11 points from Antonio Stabler (Garner, N.C.). Lenoir-Rhyne lead at the break by a 25-22 score and never relinquished its lead the rest of the way.
Queens cut the margin to one point at 50-49 on a lay-up by Joby Glymph (Lexington, S.C.) with 16 seconds left but Kunz responded for L-R with a pair of free throws and the Royals couldn't any closer than two points the rest of the way.
Kunz finished 10-for-12 from the charity stripe as well in the win for Lenoir-Rhyne. Sophomore guard Denzel Dillingham (Hickory, N.C.) and junior guard Jarvis Perry (Willingboro, N.J.) added nine points each for the Bears, who limited the Royals to just 13 percent (two-for-16) shooting from behind the three-point line.
Lenoir-Rhyne will next compete in the Pickle Classic on Friday against Fayetteville State in Mount Olive, N.C., beginning at 5:00 p.m. Queens, meanwhile, takes on Lees-McRae in its home opener on Saturday at 4:00 p.m.
