Kidd Brewer Stadium). The Mountaineers can clinch their seventh Southern Conference championship in eight years with a win over Furman and Appalachian has historically been spectacular when it has the chance to seal a conference title on the field. Appalachian has won eight-straight times when it has the oppportunity to clinch a SoCon title with a victory, winning those games by an average score of 34-11. The Mountaineers are 11-2 all-time in potential SoCon championship-clinchers, including an 8-1 record at home.

On the flip side, Appalachian has lost three-straight games when coming off a win over a nationally ranked opponent. The dubious streak began last season when the Mountaineers lost at Furman, 20-10, after knocking off No. 1 Georgia Southern, 24-17.

Kimbrough Named SoCon Player of Month 

After making 43 tackles in four games, Appalachian State University linebacker Jeremy Kimbrough (Decatur, Ga./Cedar Grove) has been named the Southern Conference Defensive Player of the Month for October, the SoCon office announced on Tuesday.

Kimbrough tallied at least nine tackles in all four games in October, helping lead Appalachian State to a 3-1 month. The senior also had an interception that he returned 36 yards in a win over Elon on Oct. 6, made a career-high 15 stops in a loss to No. 8 Wofford on Oct. 20 and recorded career highs with three sacks and 3.5 tackles for loss in a win at Western Carolina on Oct. 27, giving him a total of four stops behind the line of scrimmage on the month.

For the season,  Kimbrough ranks second in the SoCon and 12th nationally with 111 tackles (11.1 per game). His 280 career stops rank 19th among all active NCAA DIvision I FCS players.

SMALL AMOUNT OF RESERVED SEATS REMAIN FOR BLACK SATURDAY: A small block of tickets for reserved seats returned by Furman for Saturday’s game were made available by the Appalachian State athletics ticket office on Tuesday afternoon.

The remaining reserved seats, located in section 109 on the east side of the stadium, can be purchased online at GoASU.com, by phone at (828) 262-2079 and in person at the Appalachian State athletics ticket office, located at the Holmes Center.

In addition to the small block of reserved seats, general-admission grass seats and Appalachian State student-guest tickets also remain on sale through the Appalachian athletics ticket office.
