The Lenoir-Rhyne Women's Soccer Team is ranked second in this week's NCAA Division II Southeast Regional Poll. L-R trails only Armstrong Atlantic State (16-1-1), the top-ranked team in the country. L-R, ranked No. 11 in NCAA Division II, is
14-1-2 on the year and is unbeaten in its last 13 matches (11-0-2). As the top seed in the 2012 Food Lion SAC Tournament, Lenoir-Rhyne defeated Mars Hill by a 2-0 score on Wednesday in the quarterfinals at home and will face fourth-seeded Catawba (13-6) in the semifinal round on Friday. The contest will take place at Manchester Meadows in Rock Hill, S.C., beginning at 4:00 p.m. The championship match of the tournament is Sunday at 1:00 p.m. Each of the three conferences in the region - South Atlantic, Peach Belt and Conference Carolinas - get automatic bids to the NCAA Division II Playoffs from the conference tournament champion. The top three teams in the poll that did not get automatic bids receive at-large bids to the playoffs as well. Lenoir-Rhyne, the three-time defending South Atlantic Conference Regular Season Champions (2010-12), has earned a berth to the NCAA D-II Playoffs for the last two seasons.
