Investigators with the Avery County Drug Task Force in cooperation with the Avery County Sheriff’s Office arrested 33 year old Datina Lynn Ingram of Elk Park last Monday after a lengthy investigation. According to reports, Ingram is a Certified Nursing Assistant who is charged with taking medication from an elderly woman in her care. Investigators allege that Ingram was taking Fentanyl pain relief patches and charged her with Obtaining a Controlled Substance by Fraud, Exploitation of an Elder, and Simple Possession of a Schedule II Controlled Substance. Fentanyl is a type of long lasting pain medication that is often prescribed for patients undergoing chemotherapy and other conditions that cause chronic pain. The trans-dermal patches deliver medication for 72 hours and are often abused by drug users. Ingram was released on bond from the Avery County Detention Facility in Newland on Tuesday, October 23 pending an appearance in Avery County District Court this month.
