A crime spree spanning three states involving at least 10 armed robberies has ended with the arrest of two east Tennessee men in Hickory. 35 year old Rocky Johnson of Johnson City, Tennessee has been arrested in Hickory. Asheville Police Department Investigators transported
Johnson back to Asheville and charged him with robbing the First Citizens Bank on Smoky Park Highway on Monday. He is also charged with armed robbery and 7 counts of 2nd degree kidnapping for the Bojangles hold up on Wednesday in Oteen. 50 year old William Laws of Elizabethton, Tennessee is charged with aiding and abetting armed robbery for the First Citizens Bank robbery. Laws is currently hospitalized in Hickory. He will be transported back to Asheville as soon as his condition improves. They are also wanted in connection to several more armed robberies in South Carolina and Eastern Tennessee. |
