$6000 Taken in Wilkes Charge Card Fraud PDF Print

A Wilkes County woman was arrested this week in the theft of over $6000 from the fraudulent use of a customer’s credit card.  Management of Mamma Zoe’s Restaurant reported that one of their regular customers, Douglas Morris of Greensboro, reported finding numerous transactions on his card, and checking on those transactions, Altin Matani discovered all the transaction were run on one server’s number. Wilkesboro Police checked with the card company, and were provided with a report of over 200 transactions totaling $6074 since July.  The server in question resigned suddenly October 2nd, but was found by police and questioned about the charges, and admitted that she used the card number for transactions when she was given cash, and kept the cash.  She said she did so to cover her drug habits, according to the Wilkesboro Police report, which said she gave another server the number at some point. 44-year old Melissa McFaddin Russell was charged with Financial Transaction Fraud, ther Moravian Falls woman set a $1000 bond with a January trial date set.
