Watauga Search Yields Crystal Meth, Arrest PDF Print

On October 5, 2012, Watauga County Sheriff’s Office Narcotics Detectives and Deputies executed a search warrant on 135 Long Street, Boone, NC 28607, subsequent to a narcotics investigation involving the sell/distribution of crystal methamphetamine.  During the course of the search, 24 grams of crystal methamphetamine were located as well as $5,756 in US Currency, and related drug paraphernalia.  Baxter Smith James, age 68, was arrested on charges of PWISD Methamphetamine, Possession of a Firearm by Felon, Maintaining a Dwelling for Controlled Substance, and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.  The investigation is ongoing and more arrests are expected.  Mr. James was placed in the Watauga County Detention Center under a $30,000 bond.
