Our Gas Gap is gaining on us again—that with Wilkesboro prices dropping to $3.42.9, and prices just across the border in Tennessee averaging over a dime a gallon lower. GoBlueRidge.net readers and staff reports are that stations in the ‘gas war’ areas of US 421 in Wilkesboro
and on 321 in Caldwell continue to drop well below prices here, $3.44 in Granite Falls, while prices here haven’t budged with all the leaf traffic. Prices here have been stuck at a low of $3.75 for regular, 30 cents higher than a county away, and 35 cents a gallon lower in Elizabethton, Tennessee. But even Newland has gas at $3.69, well lower than Boone, while a station in West Jefferson is reporting $3.58 a gallon for regular.
