 Appalachian State University field hockey team fell in its NorPac match against Radford 2-0 this afternoon. The Mountaineers were held scoreless through 70 minutes of play putting up eight
shots, four of which were on goal. Radford wasted no time getting on the scoreboard as the scored just eight minutes into the first half of the match. The Highlanders found the back of the net one more time as Marianna Parker netted her third goal of the season when she picked up her own rebound in front of the cage, allowing RU to go on to a 2-0 victory Sophomore Jessi Stuart led the way for App State with four shots, two of which were on goal, while Dana Wetmore and Jordyn Warren each had one shot on goal. Goalkeeper Sarah Anderson suffered the loss in net, making five saves on the afternoon. With the loss the Apps fall to 3-13 overall on the season and 0-6 in the NorPac, while Radford improves to 2-14 overall on the season and 2-4 in the NorPac. Appalachian will be back in action when they return to Boone for its final home match of the 2012 season. The Black and Gold will take on Liberty at Kidd Brewer Stadium Friday, Oct. 26. The match is scheduled to start at 4 p.m. |
