Eight former Appalachian State University football student-athletes are currently in the National Football League and seven are members of their teams'

active 53-man rosters. Below is a look at how the former Mountaineers fared in Week 5 of NFL action:
LB D.J. Smith (Green Bay Packers) tied season highs with nine tackles and a sack of Indianapolis quarterback Andrew Luck during the Packers' 30-27 loss to the Colts. Smith now has 26 tackles and two sacks on the season.
DB Corey Lynch (San Diego Chargers) recorded a season-high four tackles, including a huge hit on New Orleans RB Darren Sproles that ended a Saints drive during the Chargers' 31-24 loss.
OL Daniel Kilgore (San Francisco 49ers) was on the field for a handful of plays, including a one-yard touchdown run by Frank Gore, in a 45-3 win over the Buffalo Bills.
WR Brian Quick (St. Louis Rams) was targeted once for a would-be touchdown pass but did not record any statistics in the Rams' 17-3 victory over the previosuly undefeated Arizona Cardinals.
DB DeAndre Presley (Miami Dolphins) was signed to the Dolphins' 53-man roster last week after being on the practice squad for the first four weeks of the season. He did not record any statistics but saw the field on special teams in Miami's 17-13 win over the Cincinnati Bengals.
WR Armanti Edwards (Carolina Panthers) played but did not record any statistics in the Panthers' 16-12 loss to the Seattle Seahawks.
RB Travaris Cadet (New Orleans Saints) sat out of the Saints' 31-24 win over San Diego with a shoulder injury.
DE Jason Hunter (Denver Broncos) remains on the injured reserve list after suffering a season-ending injury to his bicep.
