Lees-McRae College freshman Sarah Mahar (Jacksonville, Fla.) has been named the Conference Carolinas Women's Soccer Player of the Week for the first time in her career, garnering the league's weekly honors after leading the

Bobcats to a 2-0 worksheet last week, announced conference officials Tuesday. Mahar paced the Bobcats to a pair of impressive conference wins over Erskine College and Pfeiffer University last week, scoring two goals, including a match-winner, to move into 28th in the nation with her third decisive strike of the season.
The Jacksonville, Fla. native opened the week by tallying the match-winner against Erskine, propelling the Bobcats to the top of the league standings in a 4-2 win over the Flying Fleet. Mahar then capped the week with a goal and an assist against Pfeiffer, finding the back of the net and setting up Erica Allen (Norton, Ohio) for a strike as they both moved into a tie for the team-lead with their fifth goals of the season.
Lees-McRae returns to the pitch on Wednesday when the Bobcats host Limestone College in a pivotal league clash at 5 p.m. on Tate Field.

Bobcats Jump To Ninth In NSCAA Southeast Region Rankings

The Lees-McRae College women's soccer team is ranked ninth in this week's NSCAA/Continental Tires NCAA Division II Southeast Region poll, moving up one spot from a tie for 10th last week, announced NSCAA officials Tuesday.
Lees-McRae (7-3-1, 6-1 Conference Carolinas) has been on a strong run of play to start the conference schedule, entering the week at the top of the league standings and on a four-match winning streak following a 5-0 win over Pfeiffer University on Saturday. The Bobcats began the week ranked 21st in the nation in scoring offense, swelling their goals per match average to 2.73 after netting nine tallies last week.
Armstrong Atlantic State University tops the region once again with a record of 8-1-1, followed by Columbus State University (10-1-0), Lenoir-Rhyne University (9-1-0), Lander University (7-1-3), and North Georgia College & State University (10-2-0). Lees-McRae is ninth, with University of North Carolina-Pembroke (5-4-2) and Catawba College (8-4-0) tied for 10th.
