“Fueling the Fight” for Breast Cancer Prevention PDF Print
Written by Renee Whitener, Director of Public Relations, BREMCO

Giving back to help a cause that’s close to the hearts of customers and employees is what “Fueling the Fight” is all about for Blue Ridge Energies, the propane subsidiary of Blue Ridge Electric Membership Corporation. If you’ve seen the pink propane delivery trucks driving around neighborhoods, you weren’t imagining things: Blue Ridge Energies has three pink trucks as a way to support breast cancer awareness. For every gallon of propane delivered by the pink delivery trucks, a penny will be donated to a local breast cancer related charity. In Watauga County, the recipient will be the Cancer Resource Alliance of Appalachian Regional Healthcare’s Seby B. Jones Cancer Center.

Blue Ridge Energies is kicking off the effort this October, which is national Breast Cancer Awareness month, and will present donations next October.

“Breast cancer has touched the lives of most everyone in some way so we’re proud to support this cause with a tangible donation as well as raise awareness of breast cancer as our pink trucks travel throughout our service area,” said Glenda Christian, Chief Operating Officer of Blue Ridge Energies.

Additionally, Blue Ridge Energies’ pink delivery trucks are making appearances at local breast cancer awareness events and activities.  Employees are also wearing “Fueling the Fight” pink shirts as part of the effort to build awareness.

If you’re a Blue Ridge Energies propane customer and would like to request a delivery by the Blue Ridge Energies pink delivery truck, please call your local Blue Ridge Energies office and we’ll make every effort to arrange it within our delivery schedule. If you’re an event organizer and would like an appearance at a local event by the pink delivery truck, contact your local Blue Ridge Energies office and we’ll work with you to schedule it.

Blue Ridge Energies is a heating fuels and propane subsidiary of Blue Ridge Electric. Blue Ridge Energies also has hearth product showrooms featuring gas logs, standby generators and water heaters in each Blue Ridge Electric district office in Boone, Lenoir, West Jefferson and Sparta. For more information, visit www.BlueRidgeEnergies.com or find Blue Ridge Energies on Facebook. Blue Ridge Energies in Boone can be reached at 264-3521.
