Presley Activated By Dolphins PDF Print

DeAndre Presley is living the dream. The former Mountaineer was activated by the Miami Dolphins from the practice squad to the 53-man roster

on Wednesday. Presley, who was not selected in the National Football League Draft last April, originally signed a free agent contract with the San Diego Chargers on April 29.
Presley played in four preseason games for the Chargers. He had 13 tackles with an interception. He also returned eight kick-offs for a 22.1-yard average and he returned five punts for 22 yards. Presley replaced Armanti Edwards at quarterback for the Mountaineers and led the team to a 10-3 record before losing to the Villanova Wildcats in the quarterfinals of the 2010 FCS playoffs. On December 1, he was named as one of three finalists for the 2010 Walter Payton Award.
He began the year as Appalachian State's starting quarterback last fall before he was sidelined by a hand injury. He was replace at quarterback by Jamal Jackson. But Presley became a versatile performer for the Mountaineers.
He ran for 163 yards and four touchdowns; he completed 60% of his passes for 812 yards and four TD; he caught five passes for 66 yards; he returned nine kick-offs for a 23-yard average, and he piled up 975 yards offensively.
Defensively, Presley made 17 stops with 1.5 tackles-for-loss and he forced two fumbles. The Dolphins (1-3) play at Cincinnati Sunday at 1 p.m.
