Arizona Fall League action kicks off on Tues., Oct. 9!
Two members of the 2012 Hickory Crawdads, C Kellin Deglan and SS Luis Sardinas, have been selected to play for the Surprise Saguaros in the Arizona Fall League, which starts next week. This prestigious league is regarded throughout professional baseball as the "finishing school" for Major League Baseball's top prospects, and the schedule will run from Oct. 9 - Nov. 15.
Deglan, 20, spent his second season with the 'Dads in 2012, and slugged 12 home runs to go along with 41 RBIs and 25 doubles in 92 games. The Langley, British Columbia native finished the year on an offensive tear, hitting .325 with four home runs and 16 RBIs in 22 games in August, along with eight doubles and 13 runs scored. Deglan, also one of the best defensive catchers in the South Atlantic League, was selected by Texas in the 1st round of the 2010 June Draft out of high school. Click here to view his player page.
Sardinas, 19, a native of Upata, Venezuela, played in 96 games for the Crawdads in 2012, his first season in Hickory. In addition to having the second-highest batting average on the club (.291), he also led the team with 32 stolen bases. He had a team-high 15-game hitting streak from May 14 - June 4, which tied for the 7th-longest streak in the SAL last season. Sardinas signed with the Rangers as a non-drafted free agent in 2009. Joining Deglan and Sardinas on the Saguaros roster are former Crawdads LHP Miguel De Los Santos (2010), SS Leury Garcia (2009-10), LHP Jimmy Reyes (2011), RHP Ryan Rodebaugh (2011) and RHP Ben Rowen (2011), along with other prospects from the Rangers, Atlanta Braves, Miami Marlins, Tampa Bay Rays and Kansas City Royals farm systems.

The Rangers are back in the playoffs!
The Texas Rangers, major league affiliate of the Hickory Crawdads and back-to-back American League Champions, will be making another appearance in the MLB postseason this year! After a loss on Tuesday night to go along with an Oakland Athletics win, the two teams are tied for first in the American League West Division, but both are guaranteed spots in the playoffs - one as the division champs and one as a wild card. They would each surely like to win the division, as that would place them directly in the divisional round of the playoffs rather than in the wild card match up, a one game playoff between the two wild card teams this Friday with the winner moving on.
