T. Foard avenged an earlier loss with a 3-1 win at Lentz-Eggers Gynm. The Tigers, who pulled into a second-place tie with WHS, posted a 23-25, 25-22, 25-23, 27-25. Madison Hayes led the Tigers with eight kills; Morgan Smith had six kills and 22 dig; Rebecca Scott had 20 assists and Kaitlin Sigmon 21 digs and four service aces. Sarah Combs led WHS with 28 assists in the loss; Channing Hagaman had 18 kills, 15 digs and two assists; Meredith Farthing had 13 kills and five blocks; Rebecca Hayes had 11 kills and five aces and Ashlyn Van Dyke, who will sign with Bluefield College next Thursday (October 4), had 30 digs. St. Stephens captured sole possession of first place in the NW3A/4A standings with a 3-0 win against Alexander Central in Taylorsville. The Indians won 27-25, 25-18, 25-17. Marisa Jones led St. Stephens with nine kills, while Jenna Boliek had seven kills, Bailey Cloninger 15 assists and 15 digs, Katelyn Houser 11 assists and eight digs, Jodi Kerley nine digs and three aces and Brenna Hall six kills and three aces. The Pioneers travel to Hickory next Tuesday. The JV team lost its third straight game with a 2-1 setback against Fred T. Foard. The Tigers prevailed 25-23, 26-28, 25-20. Abby Hicks led the JV team with 32 assists. callie Idol had 11 kills; Sydney Farthing had nine kills and 11 digs; Mackenzie Presnell had 20 digs.

WHS TENNIS WINS 13TH STRAIGHT
The Watauga women's tennis team marched its way to another victory Thursday afternoon. The Pioneers (13-0 overall; 4-0 Northwestern 3A/4A Conference) knocked off Fred T. Foard 9-0 at the WHS Tennis Courts. Meredith Smith, Nicole Fox, Emily Burwell, Kelsi Kanoy, Annika Davidson, and Ali Maupin were all victorious in singles play. Smith and Maupin picked up a win at No.1 doubles, Fox and Burwell were victorious at No.2 doubles, and Davidson and Kanoy picked up a win at No.3 doubles. The Pioneers travel to Hickory next Tuesday.
