Gas prices are showing some decrease, but while that’s good news, our gas gap is widening again for drivers in the High Country. With some stations still hiking prices—some as high as $3.90—gas prices continue to slide downward only a county away.
One Wilkesboro station is showing $3.64.9, while prices in the Granite Falls area are as low as $3.65, and much of Hickory is just above that. One puzzling issue through all the price comparison is how same-brand gas can be 7-cents or more higher a mile or so from sister stations. That’s been the case for some time for Wilco-Hess stations, with the prices usually lower on Blowing Rock Road than on either NC 105 or US 421.
