 The Watauga High volleyball team didn't waste any time putting Hibriten out of its misery Thursday night. The Pioneers (12-2 overall; 6-0 Northwestern 3A/4A Conference) pounded the Panthers in a three game sweep, 25-10, 25-11,
25-7. Kristen Carter led the way with 35 assists and six service aces; Channing Hagaman and Rebecca Hayes each had 12 kills and four service aces apiece. Meredith Farthing had seven kills, three aces and nine digs; Kiersten McClannon had six kills and four aces; Ashlyn VanDyke had 11 digs. The Pioneers return home to play Southern Alamance and Pfafftown-Reagan in a tri-match at Lentz-Eggers Gym Saturday at 10 a.m. That tri-match also kicks off a five-game home stand. The Pioneers host St. Stephens next Tuesday night at 5 p.m. The JV team (10-1; 6-0) defeated Hibriten, 25-16, 25-9. Sarah Combs had 15 assists and four aces to pace WHS. Sydney Farthing had seven kills and four aces, Callie Idol had four kills and Abby Hicks had five aces.
