Too many silver alerts don’t end as well, but a happy ending for the case of William Jack Richardson, reported missing last night. The 87-year old was found by tourists from Louisiana traveling the Blue Ridge Parkway at about 9:15 this morning, the elderly man said to have made his way
back to the roadway from where his car landed off of the road sometime last night. Drew Hodges of the Deep Gap Fire Department said Richardson was disoriented, but otherwise survived quite well. William Jack Richardson’s car was heading back toward US 421 and was about 2 miles from his Stanberry Road home. Watauga Medics transported Richardson to Watauga Medical Center where there was a reunion with family and an evaluation of his condition, but he had been ambulatory at the scene and was physically OK in spite of his ordeal.
