Monday night at about 7:52pm, Avery County Sheriff’s Deputies responded to a call on Bent Road of a man with a gun, threatening to hurt himself or anyone else.  Deputies set up a perimeter and began negotiations with the suspect, Timothy Metcalf, 42 of the residence. After about two hours, deputies took advantage of an opportunity and subdued Metcalf.  During a brief struggle, Metcalf’s gun accidentally discharged, but no one was injured.  Metcalf was charged with possession of a firearm by a felon and possession of drug paraphernalia and is under a $13,200.00 bond at the Avery County Jail.
