A man, listing a Charlotte address, but said to live in Ashe, was injured last night in the crash of his small Vespa cycle in Laurel Springs. The state patrol said the cycle ran off NC 88 near the Cranberry Creek bridge, careened 10 to 15 feet off the bank and crashed into a yard.
56-year old William Small was said to be suffering possible rib fractures and other injuries in the 9pm crash, and was taken by ambulance to Ashe Memorial for treatment while Alleghany firemen helped divert traffic at Upper Cranberry Springs Church Road and Ashe firemen on the Ashe side. The trooper said that Small had no operator’s license and other counts might come from his investigation. |
