 Zeb Speir passed for 145 yards and scored three touchdowns on Friday to lift the Smokey Mountain (1-4, 1-0) to a 26-21 home win against winless Tuscola (0-5, 0-1) in the Western North Carolina Athletic Conference opener for both
schools. Speir, who is the son of Western Carolina University coach Mark Speir, threw touchdowns to Zechariah Carter (30 yards) and Zack Beck (10), and ran for his third. Beck also rushed for 76 yards and a touchdown. Friday was just the second win for Smoky Mountain in the series in the past 10 meetings |
