![]() Nathan Wanuch, a senior on the Chattanooga men’s cross country team, has been named the Southern Conference Student-Athlete of the Week for September 12, the league office announced today. The Mississauga, Ontario native holds a 3.632 GPA in Education - Secondary English. Wanuch claimed the men’s individual title at the Mocs season-opening PowerAde Invitational at the Moccasin Bend Race Course last Friday evening. Wanuch kept pace with Middle Tennessee’s Robinson Simatei for the first two miles of the 5K race before separating himself and claiming the victory by a 17 second margin. The Mocs finished second. Other nominees included Appalachian State men’s soccer player Kristian Lee-Him, College of Charleston men’s cross country runner Mackenzie Johnston, and The Citadel football player Thomas Warren.

McMahon Named Women’s Runner of the Week
College of Charleston’s Hayley McMahon has been honored as the Southern Conference Women’s Runner of the Week for her performance during the weekend of September 7-8, the league office announced. The sophomore from Poughkeepsie, N.Y. won the rainy College of Charleston Invitational on Friday. McMahon covered the rain-soaked and water-logged course in 18:20. McMahon led the Cougars to a first-place finish, ahead of conference foes Georgia Southern and The Citadel. College of Charleston will return to action on September 15 in Rock Hill, S.C. at the Winthrop Invitational.
