The Watauga Middle School football team fell behind early, rallied late, but came up short in a 16-12 loss to East Alexander at Hardin Park School Tuesday afternoon.
"We gave up (a interception for a touchdown) and they broke one on us," said Wolverines coach Steve Breitenstein. "But the kids kept playing hard. They didn't get down on themselves. It was just one of those games. If we would have had maybe three more minutes, we might have had a chance." Trailing 16-0, the Wolverines (2-1) scored twice in the fourth quarter. Evan Suggs tallied twice on a pair of TD runs of 22-and-2-yards. "We got some great efforts today from all the kids," Breitenstein said. "You'd like to win them all, but it just wasn't our day. It's a good group, though. They'll bounce back." The Wolverines travel to Hudson for a game next Wednesday at 4:30 p.m. |
