Boone Police chased a small red Toyota just after 1 yesterday afternoon when the vehicle refused to stop for an officer on the east end of town responding to a report of theft from Lowes Food in New Market. Boone officers spotted the vehicle, but the driver refused to stop, speeding away on south US 421 to Bamboo Road and finally into the Bradford Trailer Park…
The occupants of the car jumped and ran from a spot at the end of Hensel’s Lane, as numerous officers from Boone, the Watauga Sheriff’s Office and the NC State Patrol converged on the area, following the path of the suspects.  But information soon led officers to one of the trailers, and while a woman was apprehended at one end of the trailer park, the driver was located hiding in another. Arrested are; David Dieters, 39, charged with:
·    Driving While Impaired
·    Fleeing to Elude Arrest
·    Resisting a Public Officer
·    Driving with License Revoked
·    Misdemeanor Larceny
·    A number of traffic violations
Dieters was placed under a $10,000 secured bond pending an October 16, 2012, court appearance.
Amber Byrd, 31 years of age, was charged with:
·    Misdemeanor Larceny
·    Resisting a Public Officer
Ms. Byrd was placed under a $750 secured bond pending an October 16, 2012, court appearance.
