 Appalachian State University field hockey team fell , 7-2 to William and Mary Sunday afternoon. The Tribe took a commanding 3-0 lead over the Apps in the first half of the match. William and Mary scored its first goal just 3:14 into
the match when Ashley Kyle scored off a penalty corner. The Tribe would take a 2-0 lead when Brittany Hopkins found the back of the net at the 12:28 mark. William and Mary extended its lead to 3-0 when Emma Clifton came in and scored from the top of the circle. The Tribe took a 4-0 lead over the Mountaineers just nine minutes into the second half of the match. Allison Moran scored her second goal of the match just two minutes later when she netted a goal from the top of the circle, giving William and Mary the 5-0 advantage over Appalachian. The Tribe took a 6-0 lead over App State at the 50:52 mark of the match. Appalachian State scored their first goal of the match when freshman Amber Boot found the back of the net off a rebound from a penalty corner. The Mountaineers continued their comeback in the second half when Megan High scored her second goal of the season off a pass from Lesley Thomas, making the score 6-2. The Tribe added one more goal late in the second half, taking a 7-2 win over Appalachian. Appalachian State will be back in action Saturday, Sept. 1 when they travel to Louisville, Ky to take on Robert Morris. The match is scheduled to start at 11 a.m.
