The Watauga High men's soccer team isn't wasting any time putting people away this season. They scored two early goals the other night (in a 2-1 victory) to put away Ashe County in their season opener; and they followed that up
by crushing Wilkes Central 6-0 Wednesday night in their home opener in Boone. Alex Parsons scored twice in a three-minute span to give the Pioneers (2-0) and early 2-0 lead. And the Pioneers never let up as they proceeded to score three more times for a 5-0 advantage at the intermission. Justin Hall, who was the leading scorer on the JV team last fall, and Logan Raichle each had a goal and an assist apiece; Parsons and Collins Kreis-Potgieter each had two goals; Tucker Chasteen had an assist and Jake Cody picked up the shutout. The JV team (2-0) won its game, thanks to a three-goal rally in the second half. The Pioneers, who scored three goals in the first five minutes of the second half, defeated Wilkes Central, 4-2. Jakey Irwin, Zac Cole, Christian Casillas and Austin Lubkemann all scored for WHS. The Pioneers travel to Morganton for the Catawba Tournament beginning Monday night. WHS takes on McDowell at 7 p.m. Monday night; the Pioneers play Avery at 5 p.m. Tuesday night; the finals will be played Thursday night. The JV team will play McDowell at home Wednesday night.
WHS TENNIS POSTPONED

The Pioneers scheduled match with Pfafftown-Reagan was called off because of threatening weather.
