Get ready for 3000 new neighbors. Moving in day for freshmen is tomorrow at Appalachian State, and university officials say that 3000 looks to be the good number for the fresh new faces finding their way to dorms. The freshmen of the class
of 2016 are required to reside on campus, so that’s where the activity will be centered tomorrow, then others residing in dorms can move in Saturday, and by the start of classes next Tuesday, there will be 17,000+ on the rolls at ASU. With so many of that number living off campus, the move in to apartments has been on the uptick since the first of the month, but get ready for the traffic, more AppalCart busses rolling, and, well, just more ‘folks’ joining us here in the High Country. For the new folks arriving, yes, we do stop—completely— at stop signs, do go 20 miles per hour in the residential areas surrounding campus and 25 through campus, and there are vehicles with blue lights on the top that will stop and ticket you if you don’t bear this in mind. On the other side of our traffic, Boone is the town where you’re most likely to have someone allow you to pull in front of them into traffic from a side street or parking lot. Otherwise, welcome to Boone.
