A meth lab—and children exposed to the dangerous chemicals—that’s what Narcotics Detectives of the Ashe County Sheriff’s Office, assisted by Jefferson Police Department, discovered early this morning.  The discovery led to the arrest of Julia Beth Hvostel, age 37, and Thomas Wyatt, age 27, of Jefferson in the early morning hours today as a result of an on-going narcotics investigation.  A meth lab was seized, and  Hvostel was charged with Manufacture of a Schedule II Controlled Substance and Maintaining a Dwelling for Sale and Delivery of Controlled Substance.  She is currently in jail under a $55,000 bond.  Wyatt was arrested on charges of Manufacture of a Schedule II Controlled Substance.  He is currently in jail under a $50,000 bond.  Both are awaiting first appearance on Thursday, August 16, 2012. Ashe Sheriff James Williams said two small children were taken from the residence in Jefferson to Ashe Memorial Hospital ER, were examined, and then released into the custody of the Department of Social Services.  Charges are pending relating to the children.
