Appalachian State women’s soccer closed out its 2012 preseason with a 1-1 draw against East Tennessee State Sunday evening at Summers-Taylor Stadium. ETSU got on the scoreboard first in the seventh minute as Samantha Kron scored on a free kick from 20 yards out. The lead did not last long as in the 11th minute, junior Amy Werdine headed a

corner from senior Meggie Graham past ETSU goalkeeper Sierra Campbell to even the score at 1-1. The early scoring was all the teams could manage, tallying a combined nine shots on goal for the match (Appalachian 5, ETSU 4).
The Mountaineers wrap up their exhibition schedule with a win and a draw as they will open regular season play on Friday, Aug. 17 in Clemson at 7 p.m.
