Colorado State head coach Jim McElwain announced Thursday the addition of defensive linemen Eli Edwards and Lanston Tanyi, defensive back Jasen Oden and wide receiver Jordan White to the Rams’ roster. The team’s list of walk-ons was also released on Thursday. Tanyi, 6-foot-1, 250 pounds, transfers to Colorado State from Appalachian State as a graduate student with one year of eligibility remaining. He graduated in May from Appalachian State with his bachelor’s degree in electronic media/broadcasting after playing three years for the Mountaineers. He is enrolled in graduate school at CSU and eligibile to play immediately.
A native of Shelby, N.C., Tanyi will be enrolled in Colorado State’s graduate program for education human resources. He was a regular starter as a true freshman at Appalachian State in 2008, and earned second-team All-Southern Conference honors as a sophomore in 2009 before being granted a medical redshirt in 2010. He returned to play in 2011 and recorded 20 tackles with two tackles for loss. Tanyi was a two-time all-state defensive lineman at Shelby High School. Tanyi will wear number 91. Tanyi will make his CSU debut on Saturday, September 1, when the Rams take on the University of Colorado at Sports Authority Field at Mile High in Denver, CO.
