Traffic was busy—but it moved—as schools opened for the first day of school for Watauga County, with the new East King Street handling Hardin Park and Watauga High traffic in the Perkinsville area of Boone. While neighboring counties rolled yesterday, Watauga joined in, moving some 4500 students
to schools across the county pretty smoothly for the first day. One glitch for a bus heading to a high country school yesterday morning, ending in a bump-up, but no one was injured and the bus was cleared to travel.
