Brooke Redmond of North Iredell High has made a verbal commitment to play volleyball and basketball at Lenior-Rhyne University, a Division II school in Hickory, N.C., and a member of the South Atlantic Conference. Redmond,
a two-sport standout for the Raiders, had numerous college offers. Among those schools were Appalachian State and UNC Asheville, who pursued her to play volleyball. L-R made her an offer to play both. As a junior, Redmond averaged 12 kills and 10 digs per match to lead the North Iredell volleyball team back to the 3A state finals where the Raiders lost to Raleigh-Cardinal Gibbons for the second time in as many years and finished 29-1. In basketball, Redmond, a true forward, averaged 13 points, 12 rebounds, three steals and two blocked shots a game as North Iredell reached the sectional finals for the second year in a row. The Raiders lost to the eventual Class 3A state champion Charlotte-Harding University High. |
