The search warrant obtained in the early morning hours of July 26th for the property of Mitchell Trivette was released yesterday by the Watauga Clerk of Courts. Trivette and Deputy William Mast Jr. were killed in the gunfire that ensued
after Mast and Deputy Preston Russell arrived at the 2130 Hardin Road mobile home early that morning, and contains an inventory of goods removed from the scene, including the 12 gauge shotgun used in the shooting of Mast, shells, bullet fragments, spent cartridge cases, apparently from shots fire by Russell, knives, computers, phones, and other items pertinent to the investigation, turned over to forensics experts. The SBI obtained the search warrant early in the morning the day of the shooting from Judge Phil Ginn, and it describes briefly the sequence that led to the shooting that killed both men. |
