Economic impact from far away; more work is coming to West Jefferson due to orders for engines and services from GE generated from a marketing event earlier this month in England. The impact: orders totaled almost $17.5 billion which includes $12.6 billion
in orders for the GE partner company CFM at the Farnborough International Airshow. That means that GE Aviation in West Jefferson where 50 employees added in the past three years now totals 160 jobs, and predictions are for more jobs—maybe as much as a 50 percent over the next several years. |
