Donation Help Avery Humane Soc. Fix Felines PDF Print

Avery County Humane Society has launched a new spay/neuter program called “Help Fix Me.” Doris Swor, board member, remarked that the program donors, Bill and Kathy Avery are matching every $25 gift and using the funds to fix roaming cats and dogs. She added that is the root cause of animals ending up in ACHS. Our cost for spay/neuter runs about $50 per animal, so making a $25 donation will be fixing one cat or dog, that otherwise would not be.

Charlene, Shelter Manager, said, “Statistics may vary, but it is usually agreed that one unfixed cat can produce a thousand or more offspring in seven years or less. We are going to do our part to help stop this. We tried a similar spay/neuter program six months ago for Newland residents and it was a huge success. This time we are limiting it to feral cats and low or no income residents who would not normally fix their animals.” If you would like to fix one animal, go to our website www.averyhumane.org and select “Help Fix Me.” Or call 828-733-2333 and donate $25 or more to the Help Fix Me program. All donors will be listed on our webpage as belonging to the Help Fix Me Club.
