This week’s full moon and mostly clear skies has had folks out in yards and along the parkway observing the beautiful spring sky. ASU Professor Richard Gray is looking for something a little more than beauty.
The Astronomy Professor is part of an 11-member team looking for new planets. They have determined that planets may exist around twin, or binary, stars as well as around single stars and are looking for more evidence. Since 2000, Gray and a team of researchers have been funded by NASA to collect data on 3,600 nearby stars. The team published some of their research in this month’s Astrophysical Journal.
