There were no injuries, but Old US 421 was closed for most of the afternoon yesterday after a propane truck ran off of the curvy road, slammed into an embankment, and overturned back on the road, landing on its side. That crash was at about 1pm near the Silverstone Road
intersection, as Daniel Isaacs, driving for Heritage Propane, dropped a wheel off the pavement, but before he could pull the truck back onto the road, the truck struck a deep hole, causing it to cross back across Old 421 and strike an embankment at almost a right angle, causing the truck to flip back out into the road where it landed on its side. Arriving Cove Creek firemen checked the truck for leaks, but found none, and found that Isaacs was uninjured in the crash, but it took hours for wrecker crews to carefully right the truck and tow it back to Heritage Propane where company officials plan to offload the gas to another truck today. Trooper Alexander filed no charges in that crash, and said that the highway was finally reopened at about 4:30.
