Well, for Ryan Arrowood, it was just like slipping on a pair of comfortable shoes. The right hander from Appalachian State University, made his professional baseball debut Tuesday afternoon for the Tri-City Dust Devils

of the Northwest League, and the Class A (short-season) affiliate of the Colorado Rockies. Arrowood, who was selected by the Rockies in the 28th round of the Major League Baseball Draft on June 6, made his first career start at the professional level and went four innings. He had a no-decision, but the opportunity certainly wasn't wasted.
Arrowood gave up no runs on one hit with a walk and two strikeouts against the Everett Aqua Sox. The Dust Devils, defending NW League champions, finally broke through with a run in the fourth inning and won the game, 6-0.
Three other former Mountaineers made their professional debuts Tuesday night, but they did not play. Catcher Tyler Tewell and pitcher Nathan Hyatt debuted as members of the Danville (Va.) Braves of the Rookie Appalachian League; and Jeremy Dowdy debuted with the Bristol (Va.) White Sox of the Rookie Appalachian League.
Will Callaway, who is playing for the Hyannis Harbor Hawks of the Cape Cod Collegiate League, was 1-4 last night in a 2-0 loss. Callaway is 3-13 in five Cape Cod League games with a .231 batting average and three stolen bases.
