Will Callaway of Appalachian State University made his Cape Cod League debut Saturday night for the Hyannis Habor Hawks in a 4-2, ten-inning loss. Callaway went 1-5 for the Harbor Hawks batting second in the line up. Callaway, an All-Southern Conference selection this past season for the Mountaineers, batted .320, with four home runs and 53 RBI.
He also had a .444 slugging percentage and 23 stolen bases in 27 attempts. Ryan Arrowood, playing with the Tri-City Dust Devils of the Class A Short-Season Northwest League (an affiliate of the Colorado Rockies) has yet to play his first professional game. The Dust Devils, defending NW League champions, are 0-2 this season. And Jamie Nunn made his first start of the year for the Thomasville Hi-Toms of the Coastal Plain League Saturday night. In five innings, Nunn, who should be one of ASU's top pitchers next spring, went five innings and gave up a run on three hits with three strikeouts and a walk.
