Conference USA announced on Monday that it will continue to explore future expansion concerning league memberships. And that announcement also gives Appalachian State University, which wants to move to the Football

Bowl Subdivision, a ray of hope.  C-USA currently has 14 members, which includes the addition of UNC Charlotte and Old Dominion. Both those schools will start playing football in C-USA by 2015. And ASU still has strong interest in possibly joining C-USA. Such a move would offer a connection to traditional rivals East Carolina and Marshall.
ASU Athletic Director Charlie Cobb said the school is actively exploring all of its options, but the bottom line is finding a reasonable geographic fit that makes sense.

49ERS JUGGLING FOOTBALL SCHEDULE

UNC-Charlotte is shuffling it's football schedule around in preparation of its move to Conference USA in 2015. The 49ers must play at least five home games against FBS schools when they make their move to FBS and C-USA. Fortunately, four of those home games will be C-USA opponents. But Charlotte has four other games scheduled in 2015---two at home and two on the road against FCS teams. The 49ers are scheduled to play Georgia Southern and Presbyterian and on the road; they're scheduled to play Furman and Georgia State at home. But Georgia State, like the 49ers, will be an FBS school in 2015.
So Charlotte will have to drop one of those nonconference games and add a home game against an FBS team. Possible match ups with Mid-America Conference, the Sun Belt Conference and Temple are being explored.
And the football team has also signed a contract with Nike. The team's helmet design will be unveiled sometime within the next few weeks.
