The Avery Sheriff’s Office is investigating the restraining and assaulting of a woman at a home near Beech Mountain yesterday—an entourage of Avery Deputies converging on the scene, finding the victim at one residence—the suspect arrested at another.  The call came in mid afternoon from a woman telling Avery dispatchers she had been tied and assaulted for at least 90 minutes at a home on Russ Norris Road, but that her assailant had left, and she freed herself, and broke out of the locked house.  The woman fled to a near-by house, then gave dispatchers information about the white male suspect and his blue Nissan Xterra SUV, even telling dispatchers that she could see him periodically peering out of the house she had fled.  Deputies coordinated their silent arrival, several going to the house where the victim was, others surrounding the suspect’s house—those deputies quickly making the arrest.  So far, other details have not been released from Avery Sheriff Kevin Frye, with officers on the scene into the evening. The woman was taken by ambulance for a medical evaluation while the scene was processed by investigators.
