For the first time in school history, the Appalachian State University baseball team has been ranked in the Baseball America Top 25 Poll. The Mountaineers (36-13 overall; 20-7 in the Southern Conference) are currently in first place in the
SoCon standings with one series left on the schedule. ASU wraps up regular-season play this weekend in Cullowee against Western Carolina.And the Apps will enter that series with a one-game lead on the College of Charleston (34-17; 19-8). The Mountaineers own the tie-breaker against Charleston by taking two games in a three game series back in April (April 6-8). The Cougars wrap up regular-season play on the road at UNC-Greensboro beginning on Thursday. The Mountaineers are looking for their first SoCon championship since 1987. It would also be ASU's fifth conference title in school history; the Mountaineers won the SoCon Tournament in 1984. The Mountaineers will play their final regular-season home game Tuesday against Gardner-Webb. Our coverage begins at 5:40 p.m. on AM 1450, WATA.
