The Watauga Sheriff’s Office has released details of a shooting from last night on Castle Ford Road in the Todd area. Just after10:30 pm, the Watauga County Sheriff’s Office received a request for Medics at 5500 Castle Ford Road, address with a gunshot wound
to the chest/abdomen of a male victim. Todd First Responders, along with Watauga Medics, and deputies from the Watauga County Sheriff’s Office with the first on the scene, a Watauga Deputy, who is also a paramedic, who administered medical treatment to a white male, later identified as Damien Barker. Barker was found lying on the front porch of the 5500 Castle Ford residence suffering the gunshot wound. He was transported by AirCare to Baptist Hospital in Winston-Salem where the condition of Mr. Barker has not been released, at the time of this release. The release says that the Watauga County Sheriff’s Office investigators have been in contact with the Watauga County District Attorney’s Office throughout the night and have identified the shooter as a minor, known by the victim. The incident is still under investigation by the WCSO in consultation with the DA’s Office.
