Two Mountain City motorists were hurt in the crash of their two vehicles on NC 105 just before noon yesterday.  The crash was at the entrance to Highland Commons shopping center, a collision that occurred when Frank Vaiden III’s red Ford Explorer pickup turned in front of Savannah Sage Brown’s 2000 Chevrolet sedan. Airbags deployed in both vehicles, the side bags in the Ford, front bags in the Chevy, the two drivers transported by Watauga Medics after Savannah Brown was carefully removed from her  Chevy and Vaiden, lying on the grass nearby.  Both were taken to Watauga Medical Center non-emergency traffic for assessment and treatment while Boone Police worked the wreck.  Traffic was tied up for quite a distance in both directions in spite of efforts to move traffic in the one lane available.  Frank Vaden III was cited for an unsafe movement.
